OPTA
courses educate members on the development of rules and information
relative to the professional practice. Continuing education
requirement rules for therapists: Every two years, a licensed
physical therapist is required to complete 24 hours and a licensed
physical therapist assistant is required to complete 12 hours of
continuing education relating to the delivery or provision of
physical therapy services. The initial certification period for a
licensee to complete the required hours shall be January 1, 2006,
through and including March 31, 2008. Thereafter, each twenty-four
month period for completion of the required hours shall be April 1st
of the even numbered year through March 31st of the next even
numbered year. For example, the second twenty-four month period will
be from April 1, 2008, through March 31, 2010. OPTA CE courses and hours may
be accepted by the Oregon Physical Therapy Licensing Board. A course
completion certificate will be issued to registrants upon completion
of our courses. Oregon licensed therapists and assistants should
consult Division 35 of the licensing board's administrative rules
for CE requirements and note that there is no pre-certification of
continuing education by the Oregon Physical Therapy Licensing Board.

Oregon CE Approval
|
|
The Oregon Physical
Therapist Licensing Board is the state agency responsible for CE
approval, however, they do not pre-approve nor certify CE courses.
If the course relates to the direct delivery of PT services and a
completion certificate is issued, the course will qualify for CE in
Oregon. If the course is approved by another state or recognized
organization (ie: OPTA, APTA), it will automatically qualify for CE
in Oregon. Course providers should provide attendees with an outline
and/or syllabus of the course in case the licensee is audited by the
Board. For questions or more specific information on CE
approval in Oregon, please contact the Oregon Physical Therapist
Licensing Board at 971.673.0200 or visit their website at
www.ptboard.state.or.us to view the Oregon Administrative Rules
(division 35). |
